A welder generator does two jobs from one engine, which is the reason to buy one: fabrication and repair work away from a mains supply, where carrying both a welder and a generator is impractical. 120 A DC covers general stick welding on thinner material — it is a field-repair and light-fabrication rating rather than a structural one.

The two outputs are not independent of each other. Drawing heavily from the power sockets while welding will affect what the machine can deliver, so plan on using one at a time.
