A Caterpillar XQ550G natural gas power module rated at 555 kW / 694 kVA. Caterpillar G3512 SITA engine, serial CTM00629, running at 1200 rpm and producing 790 hp, paired with a Caterpillar SR4B generator end, serial 9AZ00631.

Gas rather than diesel, which changes the economics: lower fuel cost per kWh where a mains gas supply is available, cleaner emissions, and no fuel storage or bunding to arrange. The set carries a three-way NSCR catalyst and air/fuel ratio controller for emissions control, plus a gas regulator and mounted exhaust silencer.

Fitted equipment includes electronic governor, electric start, radiator cooling, jacket water heater, oil level regulator, battery charger and rack, coolant level sensor and emergency stop. It is also dual-fuel capable.

Suited to continuous generation, combined heat and power schemes and gas-fed standby where running hours are high enough to justify the fuel saving.
