Who we are

Machinery Group Ltd is the data controller for the information described here. We are registered in England and Wales, with a registered office at Flat 6, 12 Slade Way, Mitcham, England, CR4 2GB. You can reach us at info@machinerygroupltd.co.uk.

What we collect, and when

When you request a quote or send an enquiry: your name, company, email address, telephone number, the message you write, and the product and quantity you asked about.

When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address and the date you subscribed.

When you use the live chat: the messages you send us, and the technical information our chat provider needs to run the conversation — your IP address, browser, the pages you look at on this site, and whether you have chatted with us before. Please do not send card details or passwords through chat; if we ever need a payment detail we will ask for it another way.

Your wishlist is not collected at all. It is stored in your own browser and never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it, and we have no copy.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

Enquiry details are held so we can answer you, prepare a quotation and keep a record of what was quoted. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to a business enquiry you have sent us — and, where a quotation leads to an order, the performance of a contract.

Newsletter subscriptions are held on the basis of your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we will stop.

We do not sell your data, share it for marketing, or use it to build a profile of you.

Who processes it for us

We use a small number of service providers to run the site and send mail. They process data on our instructions only:

• Our website host — runs this website.
• Our database host — stores enquiries and newsletter subscriptions.
• Our email provider — sends your enquiry confirmation and notifies our team.
• Our translation provider — translates the site into another language, but only if you choose one from the language menu. Pick a language and the page content is sent to them to be translated, and a cookie records your choice. Leave it in English and nothing is loaded and nothing is sent.
• Our live chat provider — runs the chat window. It sets cookies in your browser and receives the messages you send along with technical details of your visit.

Where any of these providers stores data outside the UK, that transfer is covered by the safeguards required under UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

Enquiry records are kept for up to three years from our last contact with you, so we can answer questions about equipment we previously quoted. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. We delete data sooner if you ask and we have no legal reason to keep it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to our using it, and ask for it in a portable format. Email info@machinerygroupltd.co.uk and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Cookies

This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies, and nothing on it follows you to other websites.

Opening the live chat sets cookies. Nothing is loaded and nothing is stored until you click “Chat with us”. Once you do, our chat provider sets cookies so it can recognise you if you come back, which is what keeps a conversation you started yesterday from starting again from nothing. We remember that you opened it, so you are not asked again on the next page. If you never open the chat, it never loads.

Choosing a language sets one cookie. It records which language you picked so the site stays in it as you move between pages. It is set by our translation provider, and only once you have actually chosen a language from the menu — if you stay in English, nothing is loaded and no cookie is set.

Two security cookies are set on every page. They protect our sign-in form against cross-site request forgery and hold nothing about you — no identifier, no history, nothing that could be used to recognise you. They are first-party, last only until you close the browser, and cannot be read by JavaScript. Cookies strictly necessary to keep a site secure do not require consent, and these do not work without them.

Your wishlist uses your browser’s local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us.

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and the date below. This policy was last updated on 10 October 2026.
