This unit is configured for 60 Hz operation; UK mains runs at 50 Hz. Heating elements and other resistive loads are largely indifferent to frequency, but motors run around 20% slower on 50 Hz and timer or control circuits can be affected. The XQ range is Caterpillar's containerised rental and standby line: engine, alternator, controls and switchgear packaged in a transportable enclosure that arrives ready to position and connect. At 700 kW it suits whole-site prime power, data centre and hospital standby, and large temporary supply.
